     Music at the Spirit dance varies from Friday to Friday but we have a few genres that form the mainstay of our offerings.   Most of the music is prerecorded with an occasional DJ or live music.   Sound is provided by a huge professional JBL Dance System driven by 2 racks of QSC amps.   A 30 foot Octagon Lighting Truss is suspended above the Dance floor.

May 2nd    Electronic World Beat   with   Satyasamadhi - Vegan Hedonist at Large

     She brings beats that ground and vibrate the root chakra silly. "Patron of Safe Spaces", "Lover of Light", and a "Free Spirit". These are just some of the ways to describe her. But on a more serious note, she believes music ought to be a transcendental experience bringing new awareness of ourselves, our spiritual selves, and those around us. She has been studying music for the past 19 years, lived in Los Angeles working hand in hand with the Music Directors of Luna Blanca, and helped run a radio station, WZLY, near Boston, while holding the title of Latin & World Music Director for a few years.

Rhythm Kicker

Like the desert of the southwest from which Mario comes, his music can be subtle and seem to flow endlessly when taken in all at once. But just like the New Mexico landscape, when you look a little deeper you find a unique intricacy in the rhythmic interaction and sonic layers. Mario’s live sets take the best of live performances and dj sets and comes out as something completely different. Like a live band, you can never be fully sure what will happen from moment to moment. However, like a dj, Mario’s live set will take the energy of the crowd and push it even further. Utilizing a tailored live set up, beats can change from mellow jazzy atmospheres to dense drum and bass frenzies and back so subtly you may not realize the whole thing was improvised. With fifteen years of experience working with all kinds of musical styles, you can expect something you may have never experienced before.
